3/30/07-Harrison News
by Eunice (Lewis) Thomas

3/21/07
Hello out there in news land.  I hope everyone is doing some better.  There is so much sickness in the area.  Please except my get well wishes to you all (from the heart) and hope you are on the road to recovery.  Please believe that God answers prayers.
My cousin, Lonnie Ramsey (preacher), brought his mom, Mamie Ramsey, for a visit last week.  He plans to bring her back real soon.  Mamie is doing o.k.  Keep her and her family in your prayers.
Our revival at Peoples Community Church started Sunday night and the church was full.  Larry Cochran is the evangelist.  We sure do need this revival.  Our church has been having so many members (and families) sick.  Please come and worship with us this week.  Our Pastor is Freddie Schoolcraft.
3/20/07 First Day of Spring
We had another good church service at Peoples Community Church.  Please come and worship with us anytime.  Please keep Dorsey in your prayers.  Keep Ruth Gray of Harrison in your prayers.  She is in a lot of pain.  She has to have an operation.  There are a lot of others I could name, but God knows who they are.
I just talked to Opal Ramsey of Duck, WV.  She is doing o.k.  Still trying to help me with the news.  She loves to see and hear from her family and friends.  It has been a hard winter for us all.  Here is a little news from Opal.  She had her garden plowed.  Stanley Hamrick came and plowed her garden and helped Margie put out onions and etc.  Opal isn't able to work in the garden but can watch it grow.
Here is a few of her visitors since our news:   "Tootsie" Stonestreet and sister, Ruth Pugh, came down and brought fresh homemade bread and cookies and stayed for dinner.  Pastor Darius and Libby Arnold stopped by to visit.  Margaret Moore stops by often.  Hope Ballinger (Garland's wife) came to visit and brought back food containers.  She is doing o.k.  Garland's brother, Lewis, is home from the hospital and doing better.  Opal's neighbor, Richard Cadle is home from the hospital.  His wife, Katherine called Opal.  Keep them in your prayers.  Clarice Pettit is home from the hospital and doing well.  She went to Ohio to her daughter's for a couple weeks after her surgery.  Chuck Hardway is doing some better.  Keep them and their families in your prayers.
Opal's son, "Bub" and Vickie are visiting.  Opal called me back and wanted to say she was sorry to hear about the death of James Michael Miller.  His parents were Cleo and James Miller. Opal's sister, Rosalee, married James Michael's brother, Sam Miller.  Keep that family in your prayers.  Another friend of Opal's died, Maysel Igo of Ivydale.  Opal wanted to tell William Earl Canfield a story about "The Boogie Man."  Opal said when she, Paul and Rosalee were young, their dad and mom, Willis and Mattie McMorrow, took them with them to their uncle Limis' Farm.  One night they went coon hunting and opossum hunting.  Mattie had a big rim hat and hid from Paul and scared him.  Paul ran and told that the "Boogie Man" got after him.  Opal said Paul is till running from the "Boogie Man."  Ha Ha.  You see everyone grew up hearing about the "Boogie Man."  Thank you Opal for the stories of when you were young.
I'm late finishing up my news.  The revival services have been lasting until 9:30p.m. or so.  Great services!  Go to the church of your choice and stand up for Jesus wherever you go.
I was sorry to learn that my old and dear friend, Ruth (Whaling) Brown died.  She and I were really close at one time.  She is really missed.  Keep her family in your prayers.
Happy Birthday to everyone having birthdays in March 2007.  Love to be able to name you all.  It is getting close to gardening time.  Please call me anytime.  304-286-2342 or write me 6452 Widen Ridge Rd. Clay, WV 25043.  Until next writing.  God Bless.
P.S.  It was really nice having lunch with a 'sister writer,' Elaine Dawson.  She and I had a nice visit.  Hope to see her more often

Tuesday 3-20-2007
Spring will be here tomorrow according to the news.  The sun shined all afternoon and it was warm all day.  The weather was a little nasty over the weekend, but it didn't seem to hurt the party we had on Saturday for my birthday. I really enjoyed it and I was so glad to know that everyone else was having a good time.  Thank a lot for all those who came and for all the gifts and cards I received.  I said no gifts though.  I haven't seen a lot of my family in a long time.  It was a joyful time.  If you were not there you'd missed a good party.  Thanks to all the ones who helped with the planning and food or in any other way you contributed.
Patsy Ann came from South Carolina on Tuesday evening.  Albert and Jan with other came on Friday night. The Oves from Pennsylvania came on Friday and Saturday morning The ones from South Carolina came to West Virginia on Friday night to Riversville and came down to the party on Saturday.  They didn't get to my house at all on this trip.  They returned home on Sunday morning form Riversville.
Albert and Janice went home about 9:00 am Sunday morning.  My granddaughter, Ashleigh, her son Jeremy and Becca and the boys came with them and went back also. The ones from Pennsylvania stayed at Judy's and Walter all came to church with Judy and Neishea also, but Walter had to work, so Patsy and I with Jimmy and Missy and the four children joined them at church. I do like for them to stay for church before leaving for home. They took time also to come back and have lunch before going home. They all got home safely and I think thank our Heavenly Father for taking care of them.
Sunday morning the roads were slick, but they cleared up before church ended.  Reva and Jack Wilson came to the party and she came to church on Sunday also.  I know she enjoyed both days.
Wednesday Night 3-21-2007
We didn't have Bible Study at Church tonight, but we went down to the Revival at Peoples Church. They had a good crowd and good service. Judy came out and Missy Dakota and I went with her. It's a joy to be in church with relations and friends. My hearing isn't as good, but I don't want to complain, when I'm still able to walk and even do some chores.
Thursday Morning 3-22-07
Well I made it, with the help of my Heavenly Father.  90 years ago today, I was born at Ugly Run, Clay County. Praise the lord for his love and care down there these many years.  Love and Prayers to my children, grandchildren, and also my great grandchildren.  Also, to my many friends.

The Death of Common Sense
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend,
Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was,
since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn), and reliable strategies (adults, not children are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned overbearing regulations were set in place.
   Reports of a 6-year old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate;
teens suspended for using mouthwash after lunch;
and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves had failed to do in discipling their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun tan lotion or a band aid to a student, but couldn't inform parents when a student became pregnant. Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband. Churches became businesses, and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home, but the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth & Trust: his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility: and his son Reason. Not many attended his funeral, because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority, and do nothing.
The week has slipped by me quickly again, it is Friday morning and I am at the computer typing and getting ready to e-mail my news into the Free Press Office. I hope to get over to the Senior Center at Two Run for the activities planned for there today. Several of us will be adding a food item to the menu that is planned for over there today. The Golden Age Club will be having some special things going on, so it should be a fun time.
Thursday afternoon was the monthly get-together and meal for the Division of Highways employees and their families. Lots of delicious foods were fixed by the talented men cooks over there, and, as always we had a wonderful time. Danita Mullins(the Secretary), daughter and her precious little girls were there, and they were dressed alike and so beautiful, you just couldn't keep your eyes off them. After everyone was through eating and the clean-up process began, with everyone helping put away the left over food, wiping off tables and the guys sweeping and cleaning the floors, we began hearing the sounds of musical instruments playing and some singing by Randy Triplett. What a talented man he is, and it's always great to hear him sharing his talents with us.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jack and Mary Samples. Word is that Jack isn't able to be out and about much anymore, due to his illness, and we just want him to know our thoughts and prayers are always with him. Don Samples visited with Jack Thursday afternoon. Oscar King was there also, and Don said they had a great visit.
Sunday, March 18th, our pastor, Allen Jones, filled his regular appointment at the Burke Methodist Church. Several things are planned in the near future for us. Our upcoming Revival in April and our combined Easter Service with the Burke, Barren Creek and Youngs Memorial meeting together for that on Easter Sunday Morning at the Youngs Memorial Church on Queen Shoals.
Elma Butcher was taken by ambulance to the Charleston General Hospital on Friday, March 16th. I have just heard this morning that she was transferred to the Charleston Memorial Hospital yesterday where surgery was performed to put in a pacemaker. Please remember Elma in your prayers. She was always so faithful to attend the Senior Center at Two Run and enjoys being around everyone there so much.
Our thoughts and prayers to the family of Ruth Brown. Her funeral was held yesterday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Clay.
Randy and Joyce White visited a dear friend, Jess Cox, in the Shaffer Nursing Home in Clendenin recently. Jess is such a dear man and anyone that knows him will only be able to tell of the brightness he brings to anyone he meets. Jess always loved to attend church when he could, and we always looked forward to seeing him anytime he was around us. He loved to go to the huge indoor yard sales that the Barren Creek ladies would have from time to time.
Well, I'd better get work finished here in the trailer and get on with my plans for the day. I made a Coconut Pound Cake to take to the Senior Center today. Hope everyone had a good week, enjoying this beautiful weather we have been blessed with. Remember to attend the church of your choice. The Family that Prays together, Stays together.

Here I come one more time.  The sun is shining today and it makes me feel good.  I love the sunshine but God knows we need rain to make things grow.  Aren't you glad that man isn't in control of the weather, for he would make a mess out of it too, like he has everything else.  You know when things are going good for God, the devil always gets to someone in your church to tear up all you have done good.  I never have seen it not happen and I have seen a lot in my years.  But you can't let it get in your way of living for God, because you only answer for yourself and not what your children, family or friends do.  Just for you and you only.  I'm so glad that is the way he did it.  We lost two men in our community in one day to death, so be ready when he makes your call, for we don't know what day or hour.
The Nursing Home has lost a lot of people this winter, but there is always someone to take their place.
We had a wonderful service at church last night.  It was so good to see so many out.
Well, I just got back from the Laurel Nursing Home.  It was good to see some people who haven't been there very long.  One woman I grew up with was like my second mother.  I wouldn't say her name for I don't know if she would want me to.  Vera and Nelson are doing really well.  Sheila Thorne got along just fine with her operation.  Thanks to everyone for their prayers.  Bruce called the day he came home.  It helped her a lot to know he was o.k.  Seems like God has been hearing our prayers.  He always calls when he comes home.  It helps her to get better.
Well, this is another day, and we just came back from the Nursing Home.  I was so glad to see Norma Gray was doing so much better than she was the last time I saw her.  Our church is good to go there once a month for them, and there are also different churches that go to them from time to time.  I wish they would get the t.v. cable back on for them, because some of them like to watch it.  It makes the time pass and keeps them busy.
It was good to have Wayne and Connie McGlothlin at our church today.
Well, here it is Thursday, and I will finish up my news.  I just got back from Sheila's.  Loretta McGlothlin took her back to the doctor today, and Jennifer was sick.  I had to go stay with her.  It seems like I can't do anything, but I guess I'm good for something yet.  Well, the rain is cold today.  There may be a cold spell yet this spring.   Well, thank God for it all.  He knows what we need better than we do.
Happy Birthday to all who have one this month.  So long until next time.

I'll try to write a little something again this week, as there isn't much to write about except sickness and death.  I put get well wishes to Harold Butcher last week in the paper.  Since then, he is no longer with us.  He passed away on March 1st at his home in Oak Hill.  His body was cremated.  Sympathy goes out to his family.  He was my ex-husband.
Get well wishes go out to Randy Woods of OH.  He is in the hospital, during this writing, in ICU.  Hope that he is doing better by now.  Get well wishes also go out to Kenny Robertson of Widen.  He is now at home recuperating after a stay in a Charleston hospital.  Also, to Junior (Mike) Lane of Ivydale.  He is still on the sick list.  Ernest Duffield of Widen, Lurlene Doss of Ovapa and Lincoln Hill of Wilson Ridge, get well to you all.  Love and prayers go out to all the sick out there.
In last weeks paper it should have been Rex Taylor and not Rex Butcher.  Sorry for the misprint.
Our deepest heart felt sympathy goes out to the Patsy Conrad family of Wilson Ridge.  She passed away this past week.  Love and prayers go out to this family in their time of sorrow.    The first part of this news is from last week.
They have taken Ernest Duffield back to the hospital Sunday night (3-11-07).  They also took Kenny Robertson back to the hospital (3-11-07).  I think that Ernest is at Charleston and Kenny at Gassaway.  But Kenny is back home now at this writing.  Randy Woods of OH is still in the hospital and Junior (Mike) Lane is still on the sick list.  Keep all the sick in your prayers.
Birthday greetings go out for March to Hermie Stewart of Summersville for the 16th, Brad Belt of Widen for the 17th, Adrianna Hill of Fredericksburg, VA for the 18th, Mary Hoovler of Erie, PA for the 19th, Cindy (Hill) Reyes of Fred., VA for the 20th, Junior (Punk) Young of Widen for the 20th, Makayla Hill of Fred., VA for the 20th, Jeremy Gill of Harrison for the 20th, James Gill of Clay for the 20th, Mia Jones of Stafford, VA for the 21st, Kalvin Starcher of Fred, VA for the 21st, Shane Miller of Clay for the 23rd, Mark Hill of Cinn, OH for the 26th and Larry Gill of Triangle, VA for the 29th.  Hope that they all have many, many more.
I haven't had much company here lately, but a few of my kids and neighbors stopped in.  Deloris Tinney, Gary Hill and Benni Welch, all of Summersville, Wayne Hill, Bobbi Nichols, daughter Willow Hill, and son Tyler Nichols of Big Otter, Jerry Hill, Tracy Rose, Jon Jon Hill, Trista Hill and daughter, Tristina, Patsy and Virginia Starcher, Sarah Jackson and Della Butcher, all of Widen.
I want to say hello to my good buddy Rex Taylor and his mother, Icie of Sattler Mountain.

Be Faithful Where You Are
Look not to the greener pastures, Look not to the fields afar
Until your heart has been faithful In the place just where you are!
Work out each God given duty, Be faithful among the least,
And God, Who sees you in secret Will all your labors increase.
He sees your heart and each motive. He'll honor the good and the true.
And faithfulness in the small things
Brings greater things to do.
'Tis true God has greener pastures. 'Tis true He has fields afar.
But, first prove to Him you're faithful
In the place just where you are.
And an early Good Morning to everyone on this Thursday morning here in the quiet area of Twistabout. The dawning of a new day is just beginning, the weatherman was giving some rain showers for part of today and hopefully we will see a little sunshine before the day is over. I have a fresh cup of coffee close by me here and am enjoying a chocolate/walnut brownie Barbara Tenney made for our get-together at church last night so "all is right with the world to me!"
Our pastor, Allen Jones shared some special scriptures with us during our Ash Wednesday service. The Randy White Quartet sang the beautiful song, There Is Strength In The Lord. The entire service was such a blessing to everyone that came to share it with us. The Barren Creek and Youngs Memorial Churches were included, and we were so happy to have those special friends with us. After the service was over everyone was invited to share in the delicious refreshments the ladies of the church had prepared.
I want to send my condolences to the family of William C. Markle Jr. I attended the wake on Sunday night March 11th at the Wilson Funeral Home in Clay . I met and talked a few minutes to his wife Dora. His sister Susan Wolfe of Ripley and I have become friends and I spoke to her for a little while also. Please know that all of the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I want to thank the cook at the Clay Senior Center for sharing the Applesauce Cake recipe with me. I enjoyed a piece of the cake recently when it was served with the meal over there and remarked that I'd like the recipe so she shared it with me. The coconut topping added to the delicious taste and I enjoy anything with coconut added to it. What a delight to get to sit and talk to Eunice Thomas on Wednesday when I stopped by. She is such a delightful lady and of course she and I share a bond with both being column writers for the Free Press. I look forward to getting to be with her from time to time when we're both there together.
Today I am going to the Queen Shoals Church for the monthly Senior Community Luncheon they are having. It's certainly a wonderful group of dedicated ladies from the church that prepares all the food and just a wonderful atmosphere to be among each and everyone that comes to share in the food and fellowship. Singers are invited to come in and share their talents in singing beautiful songs to us before the noon meal is served.
I'd better get a few things straightened up here before the morning is completely gone. Hope everyone has had a great week. Remember to attend the church of your choice each time services are available. The Family that Prays Together, Stays Together. A sweet thought...If Everyone Lit Just One Little Candle, What A Bright World This Would Be! LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE

The weather is bright and sunny. Had a bit of rain early today and could be more later today and tomorrow.
Patsy Ann came back yesterday afternoon from N.C.  I had walked before noon and went to raking leaves off of my flowers that hadn't been uncovered so I was very tired and had quit for the day.  Patsy went to raking leaves soon after she got here and when 4:00 came, she went to burning.  We know that you have to be careful when it's windy, so we didn't have any trouble while we were burning.  The rain made the leaves damp today and tonight we have Bible study at the church.  I have gotten my mail today and got 3 birthday cards and had already gotten 5.
Later
Back from church and we went over to Judy and Walters before we came home.  Jimmy and Missy were also with us.  We only had 9 at church.  There was lightning and thunder while church was on and when we came out found out that it had already rained a shower.
Patsy has been cleaning some and we worked outside some afternoon.  On our walk she went and visited Teddy and Diane Frame for a short while.  I talked to Reva on Monday and she was doing o.k.  The Paintiff's are o.k. and was at church tonight.  They had made a trip into Summersville on Tuesday.  Katy Wilson was at church tonight also.
So glad that Earl McCune is home and improving in health.

"HEAVEN'S GROCERY STORE"
I was walking down life's highway a long time ago, One day I saw a sign that read, "Heaven's Grocery Store". As I got a little closer the door came open wide, And when I came to myself I was standing inside. I saw a host of Angels, they were standing everywhere. One handed me a blanket and said, "My child shop with care". Everything a Christian needs is in that grocery store, And all you can't carry, come back the next day for more.
First, I got some Patience, Love was in the same row, Further down was Understanding, needed everywhere you go. I got a box or two of Wisdom, a bag or two of Faith. I just couldn't miss the Holy Ghost, it was all over the place. I stopped to get some Strength and Courage to help me run this race, But my blanket was getting full, and I remembered I needed Grace. I didn't forget Salvation, which like the others were free, So I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me.
Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill, For I thought I had everything to do my master's will. As I went up the isle, I saw Prayer and had to put that in, For I knew when I stepped outside, I would run into sin. Peace and Joy were plentiful, they were on the last shelf, Song and Praises were hanging near, so I just helped myself. Then I said to the Angel, "How much do I owe? The Angel smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go." Again I politely asked "How much do I really owe.? The Angel smiled again and said. "My Child, Jesus Paid Your Bill A Long Time Ago."
It is Thursday afternoon Jan. 18th and I have had a wonderful day. This morning I drove down to pick up Charlotte Riddle and Joann Samples and we went on down to Queen Shoals F.G.C. Church to enjoy a luncheon with everyone that had came out to enjoy the delicious food and fellowship and what a wonderful time we had. The Reamer 4 Quartet, consisting of Larry and Alice O'Dell, Beverly Kearns and Peggy Mitchell sang several beautiful songs for us and what a joy it was to be with these special people. When Dudley was the foreman of the Lumber Yard Vincent Mitchell worked there and we were all together there a lot.
Hello to Kay Kish and Beulah White, special friends and ones I am so thankful to know. We were welcomed by so many from the church. I felt very at home there.. I met the Pastor, Scott Means and told him it was my first time being in the church but often when we would be driving by I would whisper a little prayer and said I hoped that everyone that attended there were blessed in some way.
Our Pastor, Allen Jones filled his regular appointment at the Burke Memorial Methodist Church on Sunday January 14. Special singing was by Elaine Dawson and the Burke Church Choir. Sunday evening at 6:P.M. several from our church attended the services at the Youngs Memorial Church on Queen Shoals. Our Church Choir had been invited over there to sing and we all enjoyed that. Pastor Quigley from the Clendenin area brought the evening message to us. Our thoughts and prayers to Beulah Carper's family. She passed away recently and will be another one that will be missed very much in our little area of Procious. She and her late husband Fred, were very precious and helpful people.
Dudley and I will celebrate our 43rd Wedding Anniversary on Thursday January 25th. We were married at my Mother's home in Walton, WV on January 25, 1964. Our children and grandchildren are, Douglas, Kim and their 11 1/2 year old son T.J. Dawson. Missy, Jim and their 17 1/2 year old son Jarin Schmaltz. Dudley is employed by the Clay County Dept of Highways. Elaine is a contented wife, mother and grandmother and still enjoys cooking. They attend the Burke Memorial Methodist Church where both enjoy singing in the church choir and Elaine does solo singing there. We are so very thankful for the wonderful family the Lord has blessed us with and for the 43 years he has given us together.
In Psalms these words are written: Hallelujah! Give thanks to the Lord, who is good, whose love endures forever. Hope everyone has had a safe and happy week.
Our winter weather seems to finally be catching up with us. Snow is in the forecast for the next several days. Dudley is resting now and will report to the DOH Headquarters at 4:A.M. in the morning (Friday)It may just be a short cold-snap but more will be following in a few days the way it is being forecasted daily on the weather reports.    Until next time...Attend the church of your choice.

Hope that everyone had a good and safe New Year.  It was just another evening around here at my house.  My grandsons, Nathaniel (Chae) and Adryan (Bo) Hill stayed the week with me.  They were here to celebrate New Years with me.  Anyway, the boys went to bed at 10:00 p.m. and I went to bed at 11:00.  Some celebration, huh!  Their uncle, Jerry Hanna from Canvas came down and took them back home on New Years day.  Bo had to be back in school on Tuesday.
I talked to Randy and Linda Woods of Cincinnati, Ohio for almost an hour on New Years eve and then I talked to Judy Butcher of Dille for an hour and half.  That's just about all I can do anymore is talk.
There are a lot of viruses going around with all this pretty weather that we are having.  Just about everyone has came down with something or other.  Get well wishes go out to Ernest Duffield of Widen, Junior (Mike) Lane of Ivydale, Lurlene Doss of Ovapa and Paul Frame of Wilson Ridge.  I think that he is out of the hospital recuperating at home.  Love and prayers go out to all these folks.
I've not been feeling to well these past few days.  It's pretty bad when your son and grandson comes to visit and has to cook their own dinner.  That's what happened here on Sunday.
My visitors this past week were Gary Hill, Benny Welch and Doo of Summersville, Wayne Hill, Bobbi Nichols and children, Willow, Tyler and Brandon of Big Otter, Sarah Jackson, Harlan Walls, Patsy Starcher, Virginia Starcher and Della Butcher, all of Widen.
Birthday greeting go out to Linda Gill of Ohio for January 14th, Lloyd Gill of Harrison for January 16th, Patsy Starcher of Widen for January 16th, and Wanda Hamrick of Widen for January 17th.  Hope they all will be having many more.
   Until next time.

The temperature has taken quite a drop today from yesterday.  The rain held off yesterday until mid evening.  We had one heavy shower that didn't last long and then drizzle for a while.  The temperature was 34 degrees this morning and has went down instead of up to 31 degrees, but is to go much lower tonight.  We had flurries off and on today and the sun tried to get out but didn't.  We did get a skif of snow on the ground and trees.  That ice storm has even been terrible to watch in the news but I hope it has melted and the power back on to all those folks.
My company over the weekend was Albert, Jan, their granddaughter, Ashleigh and one of her girl friends.  Enjoyed their visit and was so glad they went to Sunday school on Sunday with me before going home.  They didn't stay for dinner but Judy, Walter and his daughter, Neishea came down.  Also was Jimmy and Missy.  Jan had to work Monday.
Reva Wilson came to church on Sunday.  Walter and Judy took her home as we were out a bit early after church.  She was expecting company and they were there when she got home.  Her granddaughters; Betsy from Fayetteville and children, Melinda and son from Gassaway.  She enjoyed their visit so much.
Wednesday night
We just had 10 at Bible Study tonight.  Elna called me before church time this evening and told me she and Richard wouldn't be at Bible study tonight, as she had been sick today and yesterday.  Bill Frame didn't come also as he hasn't been feeling well today.  Sure hope they will soon be better.
I was talking to Lorene Given on the phone last evening.  She said Nina Knight from Dille was in the Summersville hospital since last week.  She has pneumonia and I sure hope she is better soon.
I took a letter to put in the mail this morning and was going to walk but I didn't far until I decided it was too cold to be out that long, so I came back and waited until after noon.  When I went back after my mail, I did get my walk in but the temperature this morning was 17 degrees.  It did eventually get in the 20's after the sun was out a while.

Another New Year has arrived in Harrison, WV.  The community has a lot of people sick.  The virus has touched a lot of our neighbors and family.  I understand there are several different kinds of viruses.  Today we are having our third snow of the season.  We sure need lots of freezing weather to kill the germs in the air.  I was told there will be 20 snows this winter.  They say, what ever the number (on calendar) the day of our first snow, that there will be that many snows.  Our first snow fall at Harrison was on November 20, 2006.  Lets wait and see and count the snows we have.  Lots of "old" sayings are true!
Since my last news, here is a list of sick people around Harrison; Dorsey, Ernest Duffield, Connie Gray, Paul Frame, Joe Sparks, Marie Gray, Sharon Jarvis, Nova Young, Ron Sattler, Debbie Johnson, Joan Dancy, Wayne Dancy, Robin & Andrea Litton.  I'm sure there are lots of other sick people.  Get well soon and God Bless to all.
Dorsey's cousin, Ken Gray came by today for a visit.  We have gotten several calls to see how Dorsey is doing.  Thanks everyone for your calls and prayers.  The picture of Elmeda (Canfield) Cottrell in the Free Press this week was a real nice picture.  Elmeda is my cousin and never forgot birthdays of her family.  She is a special lady and is missed by a lot of people.   I talked to Dorothy McCracken's daughter at the Senior Center in Clay.  She is Margaret Moore's sister.  I don't remember her name.  Dorothy is in the Laurel Nursing Home at Big Otter.  I just got off the phone from talking to Euna Marie.  She had talked to our cousin, Larry Truman.  We knew he was the one that put the article in the Free Press this week.  We are proud of you Larry.  Everyone needs to speak up for "Jesus" every chance we can.
Get well wishes are sent to Larry's wife, Ruby.  Euna Marie sends a hello to Larry and Ruby and their family.  Get well Ruby so you can come to visit us in the summer.  Hello to all you cousins in Ohio.  We were hoping Ohio would win the football game on Monday, Jan. 8th.  Euna Marie said she and her sisters and brother are buying a brick in memory of their dad, Creed Truman, who ran the train at Swandale, WV.  I look forward to getting to ride the train from Dundon to Swandale.  I've never rode a train!  I'm sure glad there are going to be some changes in Clay soon.  Especially the new side walks.  It is dangerous to walk up and down the street.  There needs to be a loading and unloading handicapped parking area in front of the Senior Citizens Center in the town of Clay.  Someone needs to look into the situation.
Here is some news from Opal Ramsey at Duck, WV.  She has had a real nice Christmas and New Years.  Here is a list of some of her visitors in the last week or so.  Ruth (Pettit) Pugh and "Pops" Smith, Pastor Darius and Libby Arnold, Stanley and Lisa Hamrick, William and Janet Canfield, Betty Robinson, and Jerry Turley. Ron Nottingham ate Christmas dinner with Opal and family, Jean and Ted Dawson brought a cherry cheese cake and Jimmy and Alma Hanna brought lunch one day after Christmas.  Thanks to everyone who brought different things during the holiday season.  Opal got a nice letter from Martha White.  She misses being around Duck, WV during the Christmas season and misses her mom and Paul Sirk.  Opal's sister, Edna went back to Florida.  Opal's sister, Marietta is spending the winter with Opal and family.  They have been cleaning up after the holiday's.  Opal sends best wishes to everyone in her family and her friends too.  Thank you Opal for calling me with news.  Special happy birthday wishes to all of you in news land and anniversary wishes for January 2007.  Please go to the church of your choice and stand up for Jesus where ever you are.  We are the light of the world.
Please call anytime and send news to the Free Press.  Love to hear from you readers.  Call (304) 286-2342 or write 6452 Widen Ridge Rd., Clay, WV. 25043.
More news next time.  Be safe and God Bless.

Tuesday night 1/9/07
Winter weather came back to us today and the snow did cover everything except the hard road, but it melted as fast as it came down.  The trees had quite a bit on them.  It was a soggy type and some melted as the sun came out at times also and that did help in the melting on the trees.  I got my walk in before the snow came.
I had a phone call from Albert tonight.  He, Jan and Ashley are coming to my house on Friday night for the weekend.  He said they had gotten about an inch of snow.
Wednesday night
The temperature didn't get very high today but some of the snow has melted and after a cold night, tonight is to be much warmer tomorrow.  We had 13 at bible study tonight.  Katy Wilson missed on last Sunday but she came tonight.  I talked to Reva and Jack today on the phone and they are both o.k.  Richard and Elna are well and was at church tonight.  They went to Sutton to their eye doctor on Monday the 8th.  Elna did some shopping while there.  Richard has to go to Moundsville to see Dr. Anwar tomorrow.  Visiting them on Sunday was their son-in-law, Mike Bokins from Charleston.
Our two Bill's on the ridge aren't in perfect health but they are so faithful in attending church each week.  I'm sure they enjoy being there and I'm glad to be in church with them.
I seen in the news that 46 states have a lot of flu cases.  This warmer weather that we do enjoy may not be so good this time of the year.

I Met the Strangest Man on the Way to Church
He said he believes the Bible, but he never reads it.
He said he thinks well of the church of which he is a member, but he never attends.
He said a man should be honest with God in money matters, but he never tithes.
He said the younger generation needs the Lord, but he isn't leading them in that direction.
He said the church needs dedicated Christian members, but he isn't one of them.
He said the church should do more ministering to people, but he doesn't help.
He is critical of some of the workers, but he never works.
He is critical of the way the church is "run", but he never participates.
He says the Lord is surely coming, but he lives as though the Lord will never return.
He says prayer will change things, but he never prays.
HE WAS A STRANGE MAN, INDEED. -copied
Well, we did get a taste off Old Man Winter the past couple days here. Dudley reported to the DOH headquarters at noon on Tuesday, worked until midnight and then went back out at noon on Wednesday. Our snow that fell melted quickly but it certainly has left us with cold temperatures. Warmer days are in the forecast for Thursday and Friday probably just teasing us before another snow storm heads our way. I've been busy in the kitchen(my favorite place) making a fresh applesauce cake and with the spices, raisins and walnuts it certainly gave a good smell inside the trailer here the rest of the day. A bowl of homemade macaroni salad is made and I will add other foods to take to church tonight for our get-together after our prayer meeting and Bible Study class.
Sunday night, January 14th the church choir from Burke will be singing at the Youngs Memorial Church on Queen Shoals for their evening service starting at 6:p.m.  It's always such a blessing to be with the ones attending that church and we are so looking forward to being with them. The church also has been opened the first Saturday of each month for a wonderful inside yard sale. They have rooms filled with lots of good buys so if you can stop in and look around and I'm sure you will find lots of good bargains. I'm not sure how they do during the real cold month, I'll find out and let you know in the next news item.
Ramona Samples and Phyllis Samples were both admitted to the Charleston Memorial Hospital. They have returned home but please remember them both in your prayers. I spoke with Ramona this morning and she is going to have more tests run to determine her exact problem. Vada Tenney and Elaine Dawson enjoyed a meal recently at the Ponderosa Restaurant at Elkview. I want to say a special hello to two of the sweetest people in Clay county, Dewey and Pat Serls. I had a chance to chat briefly with them there at the restaurant and it's always such a joy to get to see both of them. No Dewey, I'm still not mad because I didn't get a Christmas Card from you!(Ha) The best to both of you and always know I love and appreciate you so much.
Grandson T.J. Dawson and I recently enjoyed a movie at the South Ridge Movie Theatre and afterwards some special time together eating and being together at the Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant. What Maw Maw would pass up an invitation to take her grandson to see the movie Rocky Balboa....seriously the boxing match movie was good and most importantly I was sharing some quality time with our special grandson. I'm waiting for him to pick another one for us to go together and see. I'm going back in the kitchen to make a recipe of the "no-bake-chocolate cookies" I almost forgot to add those to my refreshments tonight and I won't mention any names but.someone..is always looking for them when it's my turn!
Hope something good has happened to each of you this week and remember to attend the church of your choice when the doors are open. The family that prays together, stays together.

Request for the New Year.
What shall I ask for the coming year?
What shall my watchword be?
What should thou do for me, dear Lord?
What can I do for thee?
Lord, I would ask for a holy year, Spent in thy perfect will.
Help me to walk in thy very steps;
Help me to please thee still.
Lord, I would ask for a trustful year, Give me thy faith divine,
Taking my full inheritance, Making thy fullness mine!
Lord, I would ask for a year of love; O let me love thee best!
Give me the love that faileth not, Beneath the hardest test.
Lord, I would ask for a year of prayer, Teach me to walk with thee;
Breathe in my heart the Spirit's prayer; Pray thou thy prayer in me!
Lord, I would ask for the dying world, Stretch forth thy hand;
Thy truth proclaim, thy power display; this year in every land.
Lord, I would ask for a year of joy; Thy peace, thy joy divine, Springing undimmed through all the days\Be thy days of shade or shine.
Lord, I ask for a year of hope, Looking for thee to come. And hastening on that year of years, That brings us Christ and Home.

What a beautiful picture, looking out our living room window this morning and seeing the gorgeous dawning of another beautiful day that is here for us to enjoy. Can you believe the warm temperatures we have been blessed with here in this mild end to our month of December? Almost makes me want to get out the Windex and get busy and clean all the windows inside and out. Today certainly sounds like a very warm and almost spring-like day so we'd better enjoy it while we can. 'Old Man Winter" is waiting patiently to show his true-colors in the not too distant future we can bet!
Hope your Christmas Holiday was wonderful for everyone with lots of family, friends and memories to hold onto for months to come. Our church, Burke Memorial Methodist enjoyed a wonderful time in the Lord on Thursday night Dec. 21st with a great crowd coming out to share in the joy of our Christmas Program. Church choir singing, songs by Mary and Warren White, Barbara and Garland Tenney, Randy and Joyce White were certainly enjoyed. Poems read by Charlotte Riddle and Elaine Dawson. The heartwarming play that was acted out by several of the regular church congregation brought laughter and tears to everyone in attendance. Dudley and I both participated in the play and we had a great time. Warren and Mary White were Joseph and Mary this year and their parts were so very special and meaningful in the play. I'm sure everyone in attendance that night came away with the true meaning of the "Reason For The Season". Several from the Burke Church enjoyed seeing the Christmas Program at the Bethel Methodist Church on Ovapa.
Also Charlotte Riddle, Elaine Dawson, Joyce White, Okey and Darlene Burroughs, Jack Edens enjoyed the wonderful singing at the Charleston Town Center by Randy White's Valley Fork school choir children, and other school children that were invited to share Christmas Songs during the Holiday Season. Joyce White, Charlotte Riddle and Elaine Dawson enjoyed a delicious lunch meal together at Bennigans after the choir's performances. The Clay County Department of Highways crew and several family members enjoyed a great time together and wonderful meal on Friday Dec.22nd, at the Clay Headquarters. Delicious foods were prepared by the talented cooks at the DOH and other specialty dishes were brought to add to the meal and everyone had such a great time. We were very glad to have Jack Samples able to share the special time with all of us. Our thoughts and prayers for his continued health and happiness are a daily concern. Clark Samples shared some special thoughts with all of us that were gathered together that morning and prayer was offered by Kenny Adkins for the food and fellowship we were so grateful to get to enjoy. Our grandson, T.J. Dawson had spent the night with us and he was anxious to go see Paw Paw Dawson and be with us and of course get to walk around the headquarters and look at all the different pieces of equipment they work with.
Thanks to all the employees over there that bought each of the children attending that day a gift to make the day even more enjoyable for them. We can't help but reflect on the happenings of things in this past year of 2006. We've lost several close and special loved ones from our community through death and we certainly will feel their loss for a very long time. Remember those family's and pray that they will have the strength to continue on the way their loved ones would have wanted them too.
Our son Doug is still having problems with his eye-sight due to the damage left from the Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick Fever he recently had. They are hoping to be able to prescribe a contact for his eyes that will further reverse the blurry vision he is experiencing..
From both Dudley and I we hope each and everyone of you will have a Wonderful and Blessed New Year.

Well here it is and other you is about gone. God only knows what the next one will bring. This has been a bad year for some people. So far I have not had really much bad luck.  The weather looks like summer here today. We went to thank god for the good weather, and I can't stand the cold rainy days.  My arthritis in my body is where it hurts. I have received so many Christmas cards this year already. I had a pretty one from Elsie Summers and the letter was wonderful.  I was so glad to hear from her and ever one else who sent one. I have all my shopping done.
Glad it just comes once a year, but people here soon will be a big day.  It will be Christ's birthday, but you wouldn't know it.  For years hardly ever has his name, Jesus, ever been said in any thing for decorations. They have even taken the pictures out of the Churches and even in the new Bibles. I have an old bible, which has all kinds of pictures of the Lord's Supper, the Cross, and a lot more. They can't say anything about God, but they can come talk all day about the Devil.  So you say this is a free country, but what is free about it. I would like to know.  I guess we are free to do the devil's work. Then they wonder why all young people are in so much trouble when all they see or hear is bad stuff and never what what's good in life. When good things are done you never hear about, but when something bad happens everyone jumps on the wheel and keeps it going.  If we would praise the good things there just might be more done. Think about it every one likes to have praise one way or another.
I want to thank the Free Press for the ham they gave me for Christmas.  It was delicious.  Some of my children were home for Christmas.  The rest of them called and talked to me.  Bruce Thorn is in the Marines and he got to call home.  Just pray for all the young men and women over there that they'll soon get to come home for good.
I was over to The Laurel Nursing Home and took some stuff over to the people over there. Paul Nelson is doing very well. Norma Gray was a lot better too. She knew me, and we talked for a long time.  Vera James is better and she's still at home.  Glydor Rogers is home too doing very well.  I took Shirley Samples up some things for Christmas. She had a lot of people thinking about her. God always looks out for his children. I learned too trust him a long time ago. Pray for Shirley when she goes back to Morgantown next week.  Greg has his dad out for Christmas, but he wouldn't stay to long.  He wanted to go back home.  It is good that he likes to stay where he has too when they are sick.  Merriam and Eva Cottreel were home for the weekend. They hardly ever get to come home because they both hate trips and so do I. Well I hope every one a good New Year and that peace comes to this world this year. I put me in another quilt to have something to do when the weather gets cold. I don't go around much when the weather is bad outside. Just remember when things go wrong and they do sometimes. Just trust in God and he will bring you through if be his will.  I want to wish everyone a Happy Birthday if you have one soon.  God Bless every one until next time.

I've been looking for snow but it seems to stay out west.  We have had good weather, but very cold at times.
I did have company over the past weekend.  I went with Judy to the grocery store on Saturday morning and when I got back, my nephew, Mike from Riversville, and Crystal and Justin were here.  He works for K-Mart and doesn't have very much time off from work, but I'm always glad to see them come.  Patsy Ann came from PA and was here for the Christmas program at the church on Sunday night.  We had a full house with several little ones who enjoyed when Santa came.
I'm so glad that Jake Sigman did get out of the hospital and came.  He said he hadn't missed one in 18 years and we hope and pray he will be better soon.  He has spent a long time in the hospitals.  Glad to have him and his wife, Neva with us also.
I also went on Friday to night to Ivydale for their program with Jimmy and enjoyed it very much.  The one at Strange Creek Methodist church was also on Friday night.  The pastor Johnny Conrad and wife Patsy went to it.  Now that Christmas is over with for another year, don't forget that our heavenly father is still taking care of us each day and anyone who doesn't know of our loving Savior, should invite him into your life.
Reva Wilson stayed home for Christmas.  She had some company which she always enjoys having.  Jack did go to his daughter, Betsy's and visited with them.  The weather was good but cold at times.
Patsy went home about 1:00 p.m. on Christmas day, so I just had Judy, Walter, Jimmy and Missy for our evening meal.  We had gone for breakfast  Christmas morning at Judy and Walter's and was joined there by others.  We had a good breakfast and thanks for having us.
Thanks to Clinton for the nice ham he gave to me and we certainly did enjoy it.
Richard and Elna was at church tonight.  We only had 7 and missed all the others who didn't come.  Katy Wilson and our two Bills did come also.  Judy came out early and we went up to take the Christmas tree and other decorations down.  Since school is out this week the teachers have time to clean house and do other odd jobs.  Jimmy and his workers did a roof job at St. Albans this week.
A phone call has let me know that I'm having company tomorrow and I'm so happy to have them.  My niece, Margaret Campbell from Buckhannon and family will be here tomorrow.
   Happy New Year to all.

Well, another Christmas has done come and gone.  I hope that everyone out there in news land had a real good Christmas and all the children (and adults) got everything that they wanted or anyway needed.  Everyone here seemed to have had a good Christmas.
Get well wishes go out to Ernest Duffield of Widen.  He hasn't been doing to well lately.  Please keep him in your prayers.
My granddaughter, Krista has been having some problems with her heart.  She has a real low heart rate.  They took her to the WVU Hospital at Morgantown last week to run some tests.  She went back to the doctor on 12/22.  They told her that she has a leakage.  So I don't know what they are planning on doing when she goes back this Friday, 12/29.  Keep her in your prayers also.  Her baby is doing great.
My visitors over the Christmas holiday were Jerry Hanna, Adryan (Bo) Hill, Nathaniel (Chae) Hill, Tasha Hughes from Canvas, WV, Trista Hill and daughter, Tristina, Donna Hill, Patsy Starcher, Virginia Starcher, Jerry Hill, Tracy Rose and son, Jon Jon Hill, and Sarah Jackson, all of Widen.  Jim Bo Walton and wife Carol and son, Tom Baker III from Mt. Nebo, WV, Gary Hill, Benni Welch and Doo and Deloris Tinney from Summersville, WV, and also Jamie and Brook Taylor from Leatherwood and Steven Hill and Bethany Gill from Pinch.
I want to thank everyone for all the gifts, cards, and fruit baskets.  Thanks everyone.  I also received a call from Bob and Heida Hill of Indiana wishing me a Merry Christmas.  I haven't heard from them for a while and was real nice to hear from them.  Also, Randy and Linda Woods of Ohio.  They all seemed to be doing fairly well over the holidays.
Well, I guess I'll wrap this up for another week.  There isn't too much happening around here anyway.  I guess I will try to write again next year.  Ha Ha.
Birthdays for January 2007 are Jimmy Jackson of Dog Run for Jan. 7th, Kathy Jo (Sattler) Hugart of Oak Hill for Jan. 7th, Carl (C.J.) Duffield Jr. for January 10th, and Troy Heflin of Fred. VA, for Jan. 11th.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our readers.  I hope everyone is doing o.k.  God Bless you all.
I have been busy decorating, going to church and singing Christmas Carols.  I saw the new movie "Nativity Story" while I was in North Carolina.  I highly recommend the movie.
A special get well wish to everyone sick and that have lost loved ones.  A few of us from People's Community Church went to sing Christmas Carols at Medford and Thelma Tests up on Keeners Ridge.  We had a nice visit and were blessed while singing.  We plan to go singing Christmas Carols on Friday, December 22, 2006 in the Harrison area.  The people not able to get out really enjoy and look forward to our singing and visiting with them.
I just heard that Dorsey's Aunt, Marie Gray, of Lizemore is in Charleston Memorial Hospital with a heart attack.  She has several blockages and can't have the operation.  Keep Marie and her family in your prayers.  Marie has God on her side.
Thanks Clinton for the Christmas and New Year wish for your writers.  One mistake, supposed to be Eunice (Lewis) Thomas instead of Euna Marie Thomas.  Most everyone knows the difference though.  I, Eunice and Euna Marie, wish you Clinton the best for the Christmas and New Years season.
Opal's news.  Here is a list of her visitors since Thanksgiving.  Jeanie Stone, Skip Johnson, Marvin and Ryan Sirk, Catherine Boggs, Dorsey and Eunice Thomas.  Gloria and Bob came for a visit also.  They live in Ivydale and use to live in Texas.  They brought fruit baskets and gifts for Paul McMorrow.  Opal's sisters, Marietta and Edna are still visiting.  They have gotten around 100 cards and Opal thanks everyone.  They have decorated and had Christmas treats every week since Thanksgiving.
Tootsie and Ruth (Pettit sisters) came down and brought cookies and homemade bread.  Thanks girls.  Bub (Opal's son) came by often.  Connie Brown came over and brought some gifts.  Jimmy and Carol Hannah and family came by Monday and brought gifts and etc.  (Early Santa Claus).  Opal and her family had lots of treats from friends and neighbors.  They have gotten some gifts in the mail.  Opal's family wants to send prayers and love to the family of Aaron Nottingham.  Sorry for his death.  Keep that family in your prayer and other families that have lost their loved ones.
That will be all the news from Opal's house.  Merry Christmas to you readers from Opal.
I got a call from a neighbor, of our son Eugene and granddaughter, Crystal in North Carolina.  She is Daisy (Doddrill) Hicks.  She lost her dad, Billy to death this year.  She wanted to be sure I got her Christmas card.  She had our old address before the address changes around here.  Daisy and her family are having a hard time during the holidays.  Her mom is Margie Doddrill at Birch River.  I plan to call Margie one day.  Keep the people that lost their loved ones in your prayers.
Get well wishes to the sick in news land.  That is about all there is to write about for now.  Have a safe holiday and go to the church of your choice and stand up for Jesus where ever you go.  Call me anytime and give me some news to write.  Love to hear from you readers.  Call (304) 286-2342 or write 6452 Widen Ridge Rd., Clay, WV 25043.
People's Community Church will have a New Years Eve Service.  Come and enjoy the service and fellowship.  We have so much to be thankful for.  Happy New Year "2007".

Tuesday Night 12/19/06
Another nice day with sunshine but was a bit cooler today.  It has been in the 60's this week and it's so dry that we do need some rain.  I hadn't checked my water cistern for a long time.  I haven't run out of water yet but I was sure it had to be low after talking to others, so I decided to check it today and it is very low.
Jeremy and Becca Adkins was visiting her parents over the weekend and they came to Judy's at Birch River Sunday evening for us to see their son, Collin Ray.  He will be 11 months old a week from today.  He sure is a sweet boy.  Babies grow so fast and they don't stay little very long.  I sure was glad to see them and they were on their way home from Ohio.
Jimmy, Missy, Judy and I went to Weston Sunday night to Newt Fisher's wake.  I was glad to visit with the family and others that I hadn't seen for quite a while.
Wednesday
I have talked to Reva today and she and Jack had went to Summersville and did some grocery shopping.  She gets very tired when she rides in the car and she has to have a rest when she gets home before doing anything there.  They had company Saturday and Sunday.  Jack's daughters and the grandchildren came to celebrate his birthday.
We had program practice before Bible Study tonight and went early for that.  We was a bit late in starting Bible Study tonight and the chapter wasn't a long one, so we wasn't late getting home.
Richard and Elna came and she had me a bag of goodies.  Richard's turnips are large this year and are real good.  There were nuts, apples, sweet potatoes, and radishes, also a jar of vegetable soup.  "Good food."  Thanks Elna for my goody bag.
This weather we are having is flu weather as I hear of so many being sick.  Jimmy was telling tonight of so many of the children at school that have been and are yet many sick ones.  I'm sure there are a lot of teachers that have illness like the students have.
I have gotten over 50 cards and enjoy them so much. Thanks to each one who have sent them.  When you read this Christmas will be over for another year.  Time seems to go faster each year.  Lets keep the love of our Heavenly Master in our hearts thru the whole year.
Happy New Year to all who reads this.

Hope you readers are doing o.k.  There have been a lot of sickness and deaths since I wrote my last news.  Our prayers and wishes go out to you all.
I have been on vacation since my last news.  We had a real nice Thanksgiving and we hope you all did the same.  I went to Mt. Holly, N.C. with my son, Eugene and his wife Debbie.  I stayed two weeks and had a real good time.  One bad thing happened before I got home, Dorsey took the virus and was in the hospital for two days.  He was real sick.  He and I sure do thank everyone that went to visit and called him and especially our daughter-in-law, "Gin" for taking real good care of him.  I know there were a lot of prayers for Dorsey during his illness.  He is slowly getting back his strength.  I understand there have been a lot of people who have had the same virus.
Before I went to N.C., the nursing homes and local hospital were full of sick patients.  Everyone of my family in N.C. are doing o.k.  Getting ready for Christmas.  I went to church both Sundays wile I was gone, but it's good to be back in our little church on the hill.  (People's Community Church)
Special happy birthdays to everyone having birthdays in December 2006.
My cousin, Lonnie Ramsey came down and deer hunted several days with Dorsey.  Lonnie got sick the same time that Dorsey did, but Lonnie didn't get sick enough to go to the hospital (thank God).
I am starting to get several Christmas cards from friends and family.  Merry Christmas and God Bless to you all.  Don't forget the reason for the season!  Our church will be Christmas caroling on December 22, 2006.
